Chambers Learning the alphabet is one of the most basic learning skills that kids must master before they move forward. "Finding ABC" does a nice job of teaching preschool-aged kids these fundamentals in an enjoyable way that makes a game of learning. The book moves through the alphabet one letter at a time, each time showing the letter and asking the question: Can you find my friend [the next letter] [in the drawing below]? Next to the drawing of an object that begins with the next letter are three random letters of the alphabet, one of which is the correct choice.For example, on the page for the letter ”M," the text is "Can you find my friend 'N' over the nuts?" Below that is a picture of a bowl of nuts and the letters K, D. and N. The correct answer, of course, is "N." By associating the shape of a letter with its pronunciation and word usage, a child learns the alphabet as well as increasing their vocabulary.With its colorful illustrations and game format, the book provides an enjoyable learning experience for youngsters as a parent or other adult guides them through learning their ABCs.

The book begins with the letter "A" asking the reader to help all of his friends. Then he asks the reader to help him find his friend "B". On the page following that letter "B" asks the reader to help find the letter "C", and so forth and so on. The missing letter is in a lineup of three total letters found next to an object that starts with the missing letter ("C" is over cat, "I" is over ice cream, etc.). This continues for the whole alphabet. The last page is the line up of all the letters. Reading this book will probably help some children learn the alphabet. However, there really isn't anything exciting or memorable about the book, either. FINDING ABC is just an alphabet book. It's good for a once-over, but after that there really isn't much too it.

Jessie Portillo's FINDING ABC makes learning the alphabet fun and easy By Cyrus Webb What a clever way to be able to teach the ABCs, not just by recognition by letter but also giving the reader words that the letter begins with.I love the fact that the letters are asking the readers help to not just identify its counterpart but leading the reader in the direction of where they can find it. This is going to be fun for the child, because then it becomes almost like a game---even though they are learning in the process.Anything that makes reading and learning enjoyable is a A+ in my book, and FINDING ABC definitely fits the bill. Author Jessie Portillo has done a great job of not just keeping the reader's interest but making it a fun and memorable experience.
