Bonk, Lee, Reeves and Reynolds have brought together an impressive list of academics to examine the MOOC phenomenon and the results are stellar! The 29 chapters provide the reader with a comprehensive and worthwhile examination of the topic, making this book a one-stop resource on the topic. If you need a balanced and comprehensive look on MOOCs, this is the book for you!

By Robert Bromber Bonk and coauthors take a comprehensive look at MOOCs now that the initial uproar died down and produced a worthy read. The book covers the wide ranging opinions and then comes in with credible research to take well-reasoned positions. To its credit, the book is not solely focused on the domestic arguments and applications but reaches into the MOOCs international adoption and usage thereby giving some interesting-and timely-perspectives. This book is a must for a reader interested in MOOCs, OER, and a glimpse of the future face of education.

A Holistic Review of MOOCs and Open Education Through the Eyes of Leaders in this Field By JJFalchi As an instructional systems doctoral student and executive consultant in the online learning space, I was looking for a holistic and current understanding of MOOCs... Bonk delivered! And I found out that a lot has changed since 2008. This book is a must-have if you are considering MOOC design. Do you know the difference between a "c, x, or hybrid" MOOC? What about the learning theories (constructivism and connectivism) and pedagogy, andragogy, and heutagogy that guide the selection, design, and delivery of MOOCs? This book is choc-ful-o MOOC knowledge nuggets and lessons learned from MOOC pioneers and education technology and administrative leaders. MOOCs and Open Education is my go-to reference,up there with works by Anderson and Merrill. I hope that Bonk and other contributors to this book continue to share their knowledge as the MOOC and OE landscape continues to evolve. I'll the first in line - no, online to get my copying of the next edition.
