This book has detailed instructions on how to do it, with lots of screen shots. It's best for someone just getting started. This is an introductory guide but excellent.

About the Author Caitlin Hicks is an author, international playwright, and acclaimed performer in British Columbia, Canada. Monologues from several of her plays were featured in Smith & Kraus’ series Best Women’s Stage Monologues (New York). She also wrote the play, later adapted for the screen, Singing the Bones, which debuted at the Montreal World Film Festival to stellar reviews and has screened around the world. While A Theory of Expanded Love is her debut novel, she has published several short stories, including That Rescue Feeling, which was shortlisted for the John Spencer Hill Fiction Award. She worked as a writer for CBS and NBC radio and has performed her fiction and non-fiction for CBC national radio. In print, her writing has been published in The San Francisco Chronicle, The Vancouver Sun, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Fiddlehead Magazine, Knight Literary Journal and other publications. Hicks was raised in a large, Catholic family in Pasadena, California.

Donald Maloney I literally could not put this book down (but had to now and then over two days.). A coming of age story of young girl of the early 1960's in a large rambling and strictly Catholic family. Caitlin Hicks writes with great humor, honesty and compassion about her siblings, parents, rivals and enemies. Can't wait for the next installment about her teen and early adult years. A winner.

By PJ Reece Hicks takes the reader into the special world of a devout California Catholic family. But wait! Don't go yet! This novel is driven by the first-person narrator known as Annie, a sassy and smart 12 year-old upon whose flat chest (she’s the one complaining about it, not me!) you want to pin a medal for being so damned perceptive and belligerent and especially for deploying so many crack Saxon verbs that make you sit up and say, Whoa!—this chick is going to cut through life’s smog and get noticed, if her father doesn’t smack her senseless, which he tries to do, but to him I say, Good luck. Wow, having just finished the book, I feel like I better understand about a billion more people on earth.Hicks has created a story rife with domestic tension, and although not all the promises of disaster pay off, there are myriad that do. Hicks brings us real life, and by that I mean the human condition, and by that I mean characters struggling to be free. Problem is, each character is on a different trajectory to find this freedom, and if that doesn’t make for good drama, I don’t know what does.Hicks sets her story in the era of the Pope John’s death and the Kennedy Assassination. We all know what we were doing then and what we felt like and how innocent we were, and how deluded and naïve we were, and helpless and rebellious and fed up with authority, which pretty much puts us in Annie’s skin. So, is this a young adult novel? It deserves to sell well as YA or adult fiction. Any book with a protagonist whose antics are seared into a reader’s memory is going to be enjoyed by many.

I enjoyed the author highlighting Ted Drews and the Loop, but felt there was more he could have done with the setting. Granted, St. Louis is a sprawling city, with a lot to take in, and as the main character has an intermittently working car, maybe it was for the best she didn’t venture out and about too far!This book is HILARIOUS. I was laughing out loud so many times while reading, stopping my husband to share the latest one liner that had me rolling. As we both play MMOs, there were many points that were funny because they were so true.On that point, I really enjoyed the author’s treatment of MMOs, the community within them, and just general nerdiness overall. It was a loving, but realistic look at the highs and lows within the community, with plenty for readers from within that world to identify with and chuckle at. Even if you don’t play MMOs, the overall world of fandoms was well represented, making this a great book to recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre.MMO characters, or avatars, are all about the customization you put onto the outside – the scars, the hair, the gear and outfits, etc. They are usually brightly colored, and distinctive. The same description can be said for the characters in the book – diverse and distinctive. Not in the same way as the two-foot high pink hair of an avatar, but in the fleshing out of nuances, of well rounded characters that really stand out. This allows them to hold their own through a convoluted and fast-paced plot, which ultimately reaches a satisfying conclusion.The friends I have told about this book can’t wait to get their own copy!I received a review copy of this work from the publisher through NetGalley

Fun fandom detective story By Johanna Draper Carlson Max Wirestone combines geek culture, Millennial struggles, and the detective genre in The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss. It’s a fun read, with plenty of touch points for a particular generation or type of fan.Dahlia is unemployed and living in friend Charice’s apartment. Charice tends to throw outrageous theme parties, at one of which Dahlia is hired to find the Bejeweled Spear of Infinite Piercing, a digital reward in an MMORPG. Jonah snagged it from his gaming guild after a mission, but his former roommate then took it from him. Dahlia’s never been a detective before, but she can use the $2000 he’s offering, so she takes the gig. (She’s been interviewing for months without getting a job.)Then Jonah is murdered, and retained by his family’s lawyer, Dahlia tries to figure out what’s going on. The resulting events include cosplay, a gaming convention, hipsters, grad students, online gaming, and weird trends.The tone of the book is modern, a tad snarky and full of Dahlia’s monologues as she narrates events and her feelings. She describes herself as boring, but with a rebellious streak, and looking like the “quiet girl at the library”. As with most people these days, comparisons are made with pop culture references. She seemed like someone I would enjoy hanging out with, or like half of my Twitter list. I enjoyed the story, and I’d read more with Dahlia and her friends. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I laughed and laughed at this witty mystery By QueenBook I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a niche read - geeky mystery with lots of references that might slide past the uninitiated, but as a member of the uninitiated - I scored a 6/10 on our high school scifi geek test only because the club sponsor gave me hints - I have to say this book is still a riot. Dahlia is a fabulous narrative voice, and despite her Millennial aimlessness, jobless and penniless existence, and dating disaster rut of a life, I really enjoyed every moment of her cheeky, clueless story. She is one of the funniest protagonists I've read in quite some time. The secondary characters, too, add a lot of engagement to the story and realism to the post college, not quite settled life. I'm talking about that stage when you own furniture that has duct tape performing essential tasks and you have only condiments and alcohol in your fridge. I particularly enjoyed Charisse, Dahlia's roommate - she is one hot mess of fun, and it just wouldn't have been the same without her flitting around in the background.The plot is one where minor things, like the theft of a spear in a multiplayer online game like World of Warcraft, are made into impossibly huge issues that blossom into real life disaster that is marginalized by the minor issues, like the theft of a digital spear. I found it hilarious, but more staid readers searching for a serious book need not apply. This is a purely escapist read of the laugh out loud variety. Lots of the humor came from references to movies, books, and pop culture that I did "get," and the ones that I didn't get were well enough explained that I felt part of the joke anyway. I do think younger readers will struggle with these references more than new adults, so while I thought this was a YA book, I would say that 20 and 30 somethings will enjoy it more.Overall, this is a great read when you just want to laugh and enjoy characters who are more directionless and less prepared to be adults than you are. I couldn't help but feel like I was reading a hipper and more contemporary take on an American Bridget Jones. It also reminded me a bit of Rainbow Rowell's Attachments. I can think of three friends right now who I desperately want to gift this book, but I think it would be a harder sale to my high school readers. I know that I will certainly be looking for more by this author in the future.

The way that Malcolm and Cilia interacted with each other from the start was just simply amazing. The fact that Cilia bonded with his family especially his children, even when major problems aroused they worked though it, and she was able to continue the relationship with the twins and to me it became stronger. Even though they both had baggage, I feel (one definitely more than the other) they were honest to a fault. You don't find that in a man these days, you usually have to drag it out of him piece by piece, but Malcolm let it all hang out.Now my girl Cilia showed that she was a ride or die chick, a lot of women would have said hell no, in certain situations she just grab her man and held on, and I said go on now!!! Now that ex-wife that's a whole different story, she was a hot mess. I understood Malcolm's point for things he did, and Cilia's point also but I may not have done all that she did, but some for my man. The daughter's acted the way that teenager's will act, that twin bond is deep. That mother if you can call her that, I don't have much to say because I don't want to give the main any of the story line away. Loved the fact that as their stepmother to be, she felt that they were her daughter's no step, also what they came up with to call her mi-mi cute and special.In closing this was a excellent read, I encourage you to by it and sit back and enjoy!! I hope maybe we get one more book for Cilia's best friend, that would be real nice. As all her books to me Deborah Fletcher Mello has hit gold again.

A beautiful romance blooms between Cilla and Malcolm. She becomes a helluva shero to his hero in this dramatic, thrilling, well written page turner. Modern day ills that threaten families and children are addressed insightfully and solved within reason. Therefore, this 5 star read is a believable , thought provoking romance that you should one click today.

About the Author Cota Deles-Yabut, BFA, College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines, has traveled the world as an artist, and art educator, teaching the benefits of art to both children and adults. She has also produced and directed musicals, pioneered TV cooking shows in Manila with Nora Daza; and written numerous articles and publications. Her love of music, the visual arts and travel has taken her to many cities for art education conferences including Jakarta, Tokyo, Moscow, Paris, Peking, Bali, Shanghai, Seoul, and the INSEA (International Society of Education through the Arts) Congress in Adelaide, Australia. More recently she visited the awesome ruins of Machu Picchu, and the Nazca Lines in Peru. In 1972, she was chosen to be part of the first Children's Art Exchange program between her native Philippines and China. Recently, in 2011 , she revisited Shanghai to do a comparative study on the art expressions of the children at the Children's Palace. She accompanied children from five Asian countries on a trip to Paris, in 1972 culminating in a children's art workshop and exhibit at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs inside the Louvre. In 1979, with members of the Philippine Art Educators Association (PAEA) she steered Lakbay Sining, the nationwide traveling art education seminar for teachers, students and their parents. In the same year, she was a delegate to the UNESCO sponsored "The Child as Artist” Asian Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, focusing on Tradition and Changes. In 1974, she also chaired a 14-person delegation to visit numerous nurseries, kindergartens, and pioneer camps in Moscow, Belorussia, Lithuania and Leningrad on an art exchange program and art works, which were later exhibited at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Cota, as a grantee, at the East West Center in Hawaii, exhibited in shows of the ‘tapa' bark, as taught by Mary Pritchard of Samoa. As the Art Director of the Museo ng Buhay Filipino in San Francisco, she for more than 20 years, managed rotating exhibits of "Philippine Fabrics and Artifacts" around California and Honolulu. For more than ten years, she was an active member of the Palabuniyan Kulintang Ensemble under U.S. National Heritage Awardee Danongan Kalanduyan. Currently, she plays the 14-string banduria with the 19 year old TRADICION Rondalla of San Francisco, preserving the Filipino folk music of a by-gone era. Cota, widow of Teddy Yabut, is the mother of eight children and grandmother to nine.

By Rose Fortaleza I am lucky to own a hard copy of this primer "Once Upon A Hometown." I used this in one of the invited teachings with Filipino/Canadian schoolgraders in Toronto, ages 6-12 years old. I knew it was greatly appreciated by both students and parents themselves because they commented that they have learned about the Philippines' history and culture in the 30 minutes I sat down with them more than they have acquired knowledge in the past. It is an incredible primer with admirable illustrations and a very good buy!

Solve for the Customer is about Customer Science, a social science that focuses on front office business and provides a blueprint for businesses to build stronger relationships and improve business performance by zeroing in on what’s important to customers. Customer Science concentrates what we’ve learned from modern technologies like big data, analytics, social media, and advanced enterprise software platforms into a framework that enables businesses to identify moments of truth where they can reliably meet and satisfy their customers. Customer Science is a social science much like sociology. Like sociology, Customer Science uses data and analytics to develop and understand the social structures that embrace customers and satisfy their needs whether the needs arise in sales, marketing, or service. Prior to Customer Science, many vendors lacked a structured understanding of moments of truth, which caused missed opportunities and disappointed or frustrated customers. Customer Science operates on two levels. First, using big data and analytics, it helps vendors to identify their customers’ moments of truth. Then Customer Science guides vendors to quickly and accurately devise and implement automated and semi-automated systems that identify customers’ needs and help to satisfy them. Importantly, within Customer Science customer experience goes from a passive thing to an activity. As Denis Pombriant, who identified Customer Science, says, “We use Customer experience as a noun in CRM (i.e., the customer experience), and for a long time it has been a noun.” But once we begin to think in terms of customer-facing processes situated around a moment of truth, experience becomes a verb, says Pombriant, “You experience a moment of truth. That’s an important difference and one that significantly helps vendors and customers.” A traditional customer experience is subjective and when you consider the multitude of customers and the totality of their experiences, you are dealing with a big number. Because all experiences are subjective they are also unique — there are billions and billions of them. With so many unique experiences you can see that dealing with them, and trying to build software to accommodate them, is impossible. But assessing customers’ experiences of a moment-of-truth approach is a more manageable problem. True, the experience is still subjective and customers are still unique. But there’s a limited number of moments of truth in any business, which your customers will be glad to verify, and these moments of truth are linked in cascades with each step setting up the next until you reach a desired conclusion. Without Customer Science, too often these cascades can end abruptly and leave customers frustrated. Succeeding in a moment of truth and successfully navigating a cascade is Boolean — on or off, up or down, true or false, it worked or it didn’t. If it all works you have a happy customer; if the moment of truth doesn’t work and the cascade gets broken, you can pinpoint the problem and know exactly what to do to make it right. As a matter of fact, you can develop contingency plans in advance for all of the things that could go sideways. The modern software platform is the tool of Customer Scientists. Well-constructed platforms offer the needed technologies used to capture and analyze customer data and the social tools to communicate with customers. Most importantly, the software platform also provides the journey mapping, workflow, and code generating facilities to turn customer insights into running apps that support moments of truth. For decades CRM vendors have delivered point solutions to support front office business. Now through Customer Science we can bring all of the components together in a strategy that supports the customer lifecycle while efficiently and cost effectively positioning customer-facing resources to address customer needs.

Locus of Authority argues that every issue facing today's colleges and universities, from stagnant degree completion rates to worrisome cost increases, is exacerbated by a century-old system of governance that desperately requires change. While prior studies have focused on boards of trustees and presidents, few have looked at the place of faculty within the governance system. Specifically addressing faculty roles in this structure, William G. Bowen and Eugene M. Tobin ask: do higher education institutions have what it takes to reform effectively from within?

Bowen and Tobin use case studies of four very different institutions - the University of California, Princeton University, Macalester College, and the City University of New York - to demonstrate that college and university governance has capably adjusted to the necessities of the moment and that governance norms and policies should be assessed in the context of historical events. The authors examine how faculty roles have evolved since colonial days to drive change but also to stand in the way of it. Bowen and Tobin make the case that successful reform depends on the artful consideration of technological, financial, and cultural developments, such as the explosion in online learning. Stressing that they do not want to diminish faculty roles but to facilitate their most useful contributions, Bowen and Tobin explore whether departments remain the best ways through which to organize decision making and if the concepts of academic freedom and shared governance need to be sharpened and redefined.

His experience and wisdom come through in this historical and current review of faculty influence and involvement in higher education. I wanted to learn more from this historical perspective and that is just what I did. Even after 15 years in higher education now, Bowen and Tobin's insights helped immensely in filling in the gaps in my understanding of the tug-of-war that exists between the academic and administrative sides in higher education today. The four case studies that closed out their work brought real-world practicality and meaningfulness to this learning experience for me. Whether you have enjoyed, as I have, a second career in the higher education space or you have been in this realm for 3-4 decades, there is wisdom in this work and gems to be collected by the reader - throughout it.

The text expresses an animosity toward educators' sacred role in societies. Witness early statements that encourage faculty to simply accept administrators' leadership as if faculty cannot lead or have not accumulated wisdom via research and teaching. Faculty know what imperils higher education and how the impoverishment of education has resulted in mission creep. The response of this text is try to appear measured while advancing its agenda of destabilizing intellectual life. It is an inopportune text at an important juncture in American higher education.Read at my university library.

The only difference were the suggestions at the end. Not sure if the authors intended to rip off Ms. Washburn, but they didn't even cite her in their book as a reference, even though the information was clearly the same. I really didn't learn anything from this book that I didn't get from her book.

The author Steph outlined basically everything that a new teacher should know about behavior management starting from the first day of class. Her personal approach SIMPLE: System, Implementation, Management, Pace, Language, and Expectation helps you to set up the system on the very first day. By implementing the system, you will be able to discover the root cause of why children behave the way they behave and be able to deal with it with respect, humor, and consistency. This book also teaches you how to communicate with the parents and the teaching assistant in order to help manage behaviors effectively. It is very clear that Steph has the knowledge and experience to guide you through the process of being a NQT! Great book!

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who teaches anything By Jeanine Phylisia Craig I have to say, being a teacher myself, this book just put things in perspective once again!I definitely recommend this book to anyone who teaches anything!!!I teach piano and Sunday School and I've never been able to actually put my finger on what I'm doing when I come into the classroom with knots in my stomach and then I hear this very strong, confident voice coming out of me.I love how Mrs. Caswell admits it's called "acting." Yes... I finally have a word for it!And I finally realize how it has gotten me through the most difficult days. It's not that I'm not actually caring about what's going on, it's just that my fears and insecurities are being held back by the tone of my voice, body language, and enthusiasm. I'm actually able to react correctly to the situations that face me.Well done, Mrs. Caswell!Three things this book has reminded me to do -1: NEVER go back on your word!!!2: Don't get upset about the little things OR the big things3: Even when I don't feel confident, remember, I'm the best actress in the classroom!

About the Author

Simon Buxton

Simon Buxton has worked with Dynamics AX since its earliest incarnations, starting out as a consultant and developer in early 1999 when Dynamics AX was known as Damgaard Axapta 1.5. Simon quickly became a team leader at Columbus IT Partners and carried out one of the first AX implementations in the UK before joining a new reseller, Sense Enterprise Solutions, as its technical director. Sense Enterprise Solutions enjoyed a global reach through the AxPact alliance and Simon was placed as AxPact's technical lead. Simon played a major role in expanding the company to become a successful Microsoft partner and was the technical lead on a number of highly challenging technical projects around the world, from the UK, to Bahrain, to the USA. These projects included developing solutions for third-party logistics, multichannel retail, and eventually developing an animal feed vertical, as well as integrating Dynamics AX into production control systems, government gateways, and e-commerce solutions, among others. Sense Enterprise Solutions was sold to a major PLC and since then, Simon has teamed up with Binary Consultants as their technical architect, where he works with some of the most technically able AX and Microsoft .NET professionals in Europe. Binary Consultants are involved in the implementation, upgrade, and support of Microsoft Dynamics AX, the development of add-ons for AX 2012 and AX 7 (under the name Axponents), and vertical solutions in animal feed. Simon was the author of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 Administration Cookbook, published in 2013, by Packt Publishing, and was a reviewer on Implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with Sure Step 2012, which was published by Packt Publishing in March 2013.

Mat Fergusson

Mat Fergusson started his journey into software development in 1998 by studying software engineering at Sheffield University. After graduating, Mat took to working in IT infrastructure, quickly progressing from desktop support to infrastructure implementation and management. Armed with real-world experience of supporting users and seeing how applications and infrastructure are actually used, Mat began moving back into full-time application development, building classic ASP applications at the tail end of the .com boom. Mat was among the very early adopters of Microsoft's next generation development platform, .NET. Over the next few years, Mat would develop numerous web applications and integration projects using VB.NET and later C#, and in 2005, he started developing mobile business applications built on the Windows CE platform years before the iPhone made mobile applications ubiquitous. After completing the first release of an award-winning hosted health and safety mobile application, Mat decided to gain some broader experience and embarked on a one and a half year world tour, which saw him broadening both his IT and life skills by working for the Enterprise Applications division of HP in New Zealand and becoming a certified dive master in Thailand. Returning to the UK, Mat teamed up with his old colleagues and between them, they founded Binary Consultants, where he continues to work today. In the last 6 years, Mat has continued to refine his .NET development skills in his role as .NET Lead at Binary, and has been responsible for several highly specialist web applications for the cosmetic industry in Russia and the rapidly growing online gaming industry in Malta. In the last 2 years, Mat has started cross training in AX development, an experience that has helped him directly in writing this book with Simon. Mat's current specialty however, is the development of .NET applications for Binary's clients that extend the capabilities of AX by interfacing with the WCF services exposed by the AIF, introducing rich visualization and interactions that simply aren't possible with the AX client.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very disappointed By SMou I am under impression that neither the authors, nor the publisher’s copy-editors cared to proof-read the book. That’s why it is full of controversial and plain wrong statements; there are out of place paragraphs which are difficult to relate to anything in the chapter they are placed on; there are references to the unexisting chapters and topics that had not been introduced(Chapter 1 for example refers you to a topic which the authors and copy-editors claim was “discussed in the previous chapter” – where is my Chapter 0 then?). I can go on and go on and go on.It’s not the reader’s job to make sense out of the book; it’s the author’s responsibility to make understanding feasible. I am very disappointed and can't recommend this book to anyone.

By Tommy Skaue This is the book I will be recommending Dynamics AX2012 developers to read. I am impressed by the amount of walkthrough examples and guides. It is packed with content and both new and veteran developers can use this book to stay on top of AX2012 development. The book can be used for internal training or for rampup un your existing development skills. I bet most developers would want to go back and reread chapters whenever they need. I highly recommend this book for any AX2012 developer. Congratulations to the authors on completing this work. I wish there were books like this when I started working with Dynamics AX as a developer.

Excellent Guide Book for Trainee Developers By Angela B An excellent reference for programmers new to developing in Dynamics AX, also useful for those new to AX 2012 with good details about the features introduced in that version.This book takes the reader through a very comprehensive case study, for developing a simple Fleet Management scenario in AX. All aspects are discussed, including solution design & planning, programming from data structures to user security setup, unit testing and performance profiling.
