About the Author Steph Caswell is an author and teacher based in the UK. She has taught in primary schools for over 10 years, and enjoys working with teachers to improve their practice and to help them gain confidence in their teaching ability. She has had a variety of roles within schools, including Deputy Headteacher, Inclusion Leader and NQT Mentor. She also enjoys updating her blog at www.thenqtmentor.com, so that newly qualified teachers can access weekly advice and tips for managing their first year of teaching. The author Steph outlined basically everything that a new teacher should know about behavior management starting from the first day of class. Her personal approach SIMPLE: System, Implementation, Management, Pace, Language, and Expectation helps you to set up the system on the very first day. By implementing the system, you will be able to discover the root cause of why children behave the way they behave and be able to deal with it with respect, humor, and consistency. This book also teaches you how to communicate with the parents and the teaching assistant in order to help manage behaviors effectively. It is very clear that Steph has the knowledge and experience to guide you through the process of being a NQT! Great book!

By Tina Taylor This is a great book and a wonderful companion and guide for newly qualified teachers; it offers clear guidance and reassurance, giving you the confidence to implement this formula for success! I work with children and one of the key messages I took from Steph's book is the importance of consistency and being persistent! With perseverance you will succeed, so follow Seph Caswell's highly credentialled lead and you won't look back!

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who teaches anything By Jeanine Phylisia Craig I have to say, being a teacher myself, this book just put things in perspective once again!I definitely recommend this book to anyone who teaches anything!!!I teach piano and Sunday School and I've never been able to actually put my finger on what I'm doing when I come into the classroom with knots in my stomach and then I hear this very strong, confident voice coming out of me.I love how Mrs. Caswell admits it's called "acting." Yes... I finally have a word for it!And I finally realize how it has gotten me through the most difficult days. It's not that I'm not actually caring about what's going on, it's just that my fears and insecurities are being held back by the tone of my voice, body language, and enthusiasm. I'm actually able to react correctly to the situations that face me.Well done, Mrs. Caswell!Three things this book has reminded me to do -1: NEVER go back on your word!!!2: Don't get upset about the little things OR the big things3: Even when I don't feel confident, remember, I'm the best actress in the classroom!
