Together they may create a scandal worthy of the stage, but can their love last after the final curtain falls…?
Successful playwright Maggie Delamere has no interest in the flirtations of noblemen like Cameron, Viscount Marwood. She once paid dearly for a moment of weakness…and vows to rebuff the wildly persistent—and irritatingly handsome—scoundrel at every turn. But when pressure to deliver a new play hampers her creativity, an invitation to use his country estate as a writer’s retreat is too tempting to resist....
For years, Cam has admired Maggie’s brilliant work and he can’t pass up the opportunity to discover if the beautiful, mysterious playwright is as passionate and clever as the words that flow from her quill. He’s never offered a lady his bed without being in it, but if it means loosening Maggie’s pen—and her inhibitions—he’ll do exactly that.
But soon Cam’s plans for seduction become a fight for Maggie’s heart. He’s more than the scandalous, carefree rake society believes him to be…and she’s the only woman who has ever noticed.

But it increasingly became more and more unbelievable, especially for a historical set in The Regency. I very much liked the way the author built the romance – not the current mode of sex first, romance later – so stars for that. And the hero was well written – that nice mix of sexy/bad with hidden depths that screams redeemable rake. Unfortunately, the avoidance of scandal was a major plot device in this story and I’m pretty sure the author has no idea about what would create a scandal in that time period and what would not. Becoming the mistress of the heir to a Marquessate would actually have enhanced her career, not destroyed it – she’s lowly born and works in the theatre for chrissakes! What kind of reputation does she have to hurt? On the other hand, marriage to our H would have been a scandal of major proportions! Class distinctions were no small thing back then and the difference in status between these two was near insurmountable. If the author had made the H a second or third son with several nephews between him and the title, hopefully with an independent fortune, and if the h had come from the gentry – perhaps the daughter of some impoverished Squire from the country, I could get on board. A few tweaks and this plot would have been more believable and more star worthy.

A very fun read By Lisarenee Seduced by a Book >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>My Synopsis (Actual review immediately follows):She hides a passionate nature under a cool and indifferent veneerHe hides the heart of a true romantic behind a rakish facadeHe is all she despisesShe is all he desiresHe sees her as a challengeShe sees him as a threat to all she’s worked forWhen her writer’s block threatens to derail her career, he’ll step in and use it as a means to get closer to herDare she give in to the attraction between them? Will she regret it if she doesn't?>>>>>>>> My Review:This is the second book of the lovely new series entitled The Wicked Quills of London and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Maggie is a playwright and all of London knows it. She's also Eleanor's best friend in Forever Your Earl. If you haven't read Forever Your Earl, don't worry. You won't feel lost. This book focuses primarily on the couple whose story lies therein. The life of a viscount is one marked by privilege, respect, and envy, but there is a down side. There are expectations, obligations, and a path that has already been chosen. Many feel trapped and limited. “For viscounts, feelings are not quite fashionable. Or useful. We are supposed to be dedicated either to the pursuit of entertainment, or else devoted to duty. Feelings have no place in any of that.” Thus, many rebel by over indulging in women, wine, and gaming until they can escape their duty and/ or obligations no more. Such is the current path Cameron Chalton, the Viscount of Marwood. His one true love is the theatre. When he meets the young and beautiful playwright whose work, The Shattered Heart, he admires, he is enthralled and never more so.Maggie Delamere is a self made woman who had to find her place in the world on her own merits. She is no stranger aristocracy, but one of her previous encounters left her with a bad taste in her mouth that she is unlikely to forget. She doesn't hold them in very high esteem. Whenever possible she avoids them. That sentiment is reflected in her plays where members of the aristocracy are almost always cast as villains whom commoners must punish for their wicked deeds. When Cameron shows an interest in her, she hopes he’ll lose it quickly, but the man is nothing if not persistent. She immediately knows the gorgeous man will spell trouble, The question is, would that trouble be worth it?I ended up giving this one 4 1/2 out of 5 roses. It was a fun, lighthearted, sexy romp of a read that I immensely enjoyed. The characters were fun and engaging and while I didn't fall into insta-love with Cameron, he eventually charmed his way into my heart. On the Lisarenee Romance Rating Scale, this one earns a SHOWER rating--a cold shower may be necessary (need I say more?). Some books should come with a warning - make sure your significant other is handy or your shower is in working order. lol

By Romanceaddict I have always wanted romance writers to produce heroines other than 18 year old virgins and i really liked the fact that the heroine is a mature experienced woman. What i have problem with is the realism of the storyline. I understand that this is a work of fiction and not historically accurate but when a book is set in a certain period it should reflect the sensibilities of the time. The hero may have fallen in love with a theatre actress and author but in reality he could never have married her. The plot is so unbelievable. I kept waiting for a twist but it never came.
