About the Author Gaston Acosta earned his BAS in Supervision and Management degree from Miami Dade College, and his MS in Finance degree from Florida International University. In addition to helping students grasp financial concepts, Gaston dedicates his time to studying and applying portfolio management principles, value investing philosophies, and defined-risk option strategies.

By Pholaphat Charlie Inboriboon I had the opportunity to review this great concise review of key financial concepts and formulas. First off, as a lay reader with self learned financial knowledge, this book was relatively easy to follow. Similar to a good statistics book, it builds upon basic concepts to address advance topics/formulas later in the book. It has relatable examples that help you understand key concepts and how you can relate them to personal finance/investment/business decisions.The few things I would like to see in an updated version is a glossary of key terms/variables used in formulas. As a novice in these calculations it takes time to review search the body for these terms. Another helpful tool would be to go through some examples of how to pull this information from stock reports, annuity quotes, etc to help you see how you will apply them to real life analyses. These are the only reasons I gave it 4 stars, otherwise the Mr. Acosta does an excellent job of presenting these concepts in an easy to read and follow format.Overall, a great read, and one worth picking up even for a novice like myself. I imaging that this would be a great quick reference for anyone in the field as well.

By Victor As a novice in the financial department, I picked up a copy of financial concepts I, and have been able to cover considerable ground in just 2 weeks. Broken down into 5 easy lessons, The concepts along with the formulas are clearly laid out with simple and to the point examples. I would highly recommend acquiring this book as a reference and compliment to the text book.

I've got the copy saved to my desktop so I can go back quickly to reference a formula or concept. The book is set up so it works for the novice and the professional alike, starting with simpler concepts before building up to the more difficult formulas.
