Microsoft Dynamics GP is a popular enterprise resource planning (ERP) application used by tens of thousands of sites around the world to keep the accounting, financial, distribution and manufacturing functions running day in and day out. Dynamics GP includes a variety of tools and modules to assist in controlling processes and data; one of the major modules for this was the Dynamics Workflow module. However, this module had major flaws which very much limited its usefulness; it was slow, clunky and difficult to install, configure and maintain. As of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 this Workflow module has been replaced with a new one; Workflow 2.0. This new module lives entirely within Dynamics GP itself, thereby removing the dependency on SharePoint; this has the dual benefit of making Workflow 2.0 easy to setup, configure workflow processes and maintain on an ongoing basis. This book introduces the concepts of workflow and moves onto Workflow 2.0. It covers the creation of both simple and complex document based workflow processes, a non-document based workflow, how users interact with the workflow process, including email notifications and email actions, before wrapping up with a step-by-step install and verification of the Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP.

About the Author Ian Grieve is a Microsoft® Most Valuable Professional for Microsoft Dynamics GP and is also a certified Dynamics CRM consultant specializing in the delivery of Microsoft Dynamics GP and CRM projects. He is a senior consultant at Perfect Image Ltd., a Microsoft Partner and VAR in the North East of England. Ian has worked with Microsoft Dynamics GP since 2003 and, over the years since then, has dealt with all aspects of the product life-cycle from presales, to implementation, to technical and functional training, to post go-live support and subsequent upgrades and process reviews. Alongside his work with Microsoft Dynamics GP, he has fulfilled a similar role, since joining Perfect Image, dealing with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, with especial emphasis on project delivery and the training of end users on the management of sales, marketing, and service. Ian is the co-author of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Cookbook, author of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Financial Management, Implementing the Microsoft Dynamics GP Web Client, Microsoft Dynamics GP Workflow 2.0, produced the Microsoft Dynamics GP Techniques online learning course and was the technical reviewer for both Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Applications (MB2-868) Certification Guide and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Cookbook In his spare time, Ian runs the azurecurve | Ramblings of a Dynamics GP Consultant (http://www.azurecurve.co.uk/) blog dedicated to Microsoft Dynamics GP and related products. So many web searches on GP Workflow turn up info on the old version. Ian's book fill an important role in providing useful information about GP's new workflow.

Required reading for anyone implementing Workflow 2.0 in GP By JeffP This book covers all aspects of installation, setup, maintenance and use of Workflow 2.0 for Microsoft Dynamics GP - including a couple of undocumented prerequisites. The examples Mr. Grieve uses along with the screenshots he provides made it easy to setup and use workflow 2.0 in GP. This book is a great reference tool - I've already ordered 3 more copies for our office!
