She went to the library and chise her 9 books and sat down and diligently completed 10 pages. She really retained what she learned too. I think this is a wonderful book. She also loved the coloring pages. This is a great way to learn. 5 stars!!!

By Homeschooling Mom This book is really pretty on the inside! It really is nice for girls who love to draw and be creative. the book with the planets on the cover has an interior that is not so girls. I have been using these Homeschool Journals as our curriculum with six homeschooling children and we all love the concept. They are ages 8 to 16. We are eclectic homeschoolers who do a lot of Charlotte Mason Methods. All the kids have the same type of Journal, but are reading books on their own unique levels. My kids have built in goals and they really love learning from a big stack of books. I have not had any trouble getting the kids to work in their journals. The 10 pages per day provides about 3 hours of homeschooling in the morning, and a little time in the afternoon with the tutorials that we all watch together online.
7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. I LOVE them! And my daughter loves them more! By Amazon Customer This book is great to change things up a bit in the monotony of schooling or to give your child that little spark they need to get back into loving school. My 11 year old daughter loves to sit down and "color" while she is learning. We use this in addition to our homeschool curriculum. The pages of logic games, creative writing, and meal planning are great for her to think outside the box. We are only 2 weeks in with this journal, but I would say we are hooked. So far, we are learning how to make balloon animals, how to do henna tattoos, how to make our own cheese and yogurt, a little Morse code, about narwhals (hello, the unicorn of the sea!), and Japan during WWII. Not one of these subjects is something I would have chosen for her to learn about, but she has really enjoyed it. And so have I! The best part, she is expanding on those subjects to wanting to learn more about other things. She has always been an exceptional student with a hard working ethic, but to see her sit down and just enjoy her work and have fun with random subjects is a delightful change. I keep saying I wish I had more kids to do these with because there are so many that I love and not enough time in the day. It is hard to "let go" and let them self-direct their learning if you are one of those moms who just needs to be in charge of schoolwork. But if you give it a chance, you will see your child learn to work more independently on other school work too. Just in the last couple weeks, mine has asked if she can try doing more on her own. Or sometimes she just does it on her own when I'm not looking.Just a note--we started out using colored pencils and regular pencils and found the pencils weren't as crisp and would sometimes smear when she started coloring over the No. 2 pencil writing. We got some nice black & colored gel pens and it seems to have boosted her creativity even more. She even started writing in cursive more---on purpose! I'm not sure if that was just a coincidence, but I have no other explanation for her new love of cursive. The only thing I can think of that would make these even more awesome is if they came spiral bound. I would definitely pay more for a spiral bound version. If you live somewhere with an Office Depot or other office store, I am sure you can get it done fairly inexpensively. That really isn't a downfall of the books. I just like the idea of spiral bound.
