A good fun and well observed foodie novella, but I only wish it was longer By Sally Akins Disclosure: I was sent an e-copy of ‘Greedily Yours – Book 1′ for review purposes, but the opinions in this post are all my own.Emma Hamilton’s ‘Greedily Yours‘ is the story of Mia Maxwell, who loves food so much that she has pretty much made it the centre of her life. She lives with her best friend Lizzie who runs a cupcake cafe, she owns a food PR business that fills her days, and in the evenings she writes about food in her blog ‘Culinary Confessions of a Greedy Girl. So it’s no real surprise when we find that she seems a bit dissatisfied with her wealthy but appearance-obsessed banker boyfriend.And when she goes down to Cornwall to run a food festival, and bumps into an attractive foodie…can you see where this is heading?‘Greedily Yours’ is a light, frothy romantic comedy novel that I really enjoyed. The characters are introduced quickly and easily, and they fit into the standard characters that you might expect to see in this kind of novel. But don’t be taken in by first appearances, they can be deceiving!Emma Hamilton is the pen name of a writer and journalist, who clearly has a passion for food. Her descriptions of food in this book are spot on, and I could really relate to food blogger Mia. It always amuses me when characters in books are bloggers, and there were lots of little points in this book that made me smile. Although I must also say that it annoyed me every time Mia went ‘mmmmmmnnhh’ with enjoyment while she was eating her food – but that’s just because I’m fussy about table manners!I was sent an e-copy of ‘Greedily Yours – Book 1′ to review, and didn’t realise at first that it’s actually the first of 8 novella-length episodes of Mia’s story. I started reading at 10pm, and it was a bit of a shock when I reached the end of the book at 11.15pm! It shows how much I enjoyed the story though, as I was really keen to read Book 2 as soon as possible.I must admit that the Episode format was a little frustrating – the story and characters are strong enough that I would have happily read a full-length novel. I will definitely be reading Book 2 very soon, and I expect that I will read the rest of the Books as they are released. They would make perfect summer holiday reading!A good fun and well observed foodie novella, but I only wish it was longer! – 7.5/10

Mia is a food enthusiast blogger who channeled her love of all things foodie into a PR career By Bookworm Blondie Mia is a food enthusiast blogger who channeled her love of all things foodie into a PR career; a job that leaves her free to fulfill her passions of eating and consulting on her friend Lizzie’s café menu while living in a less than passionate relationship with Paul, a man who works in finance and is happy to whisk Mia away on holiday after holiday (Who says having it “all” is actually fulfilling??). A yearly work trip to a Food Festival not only allows Mia to indulge in her passions, but to set sail on a new course before life throws her overboard.Greedily Yours is the first episode in an eight-novella series written by a food blogger and journalist under the name of Emma Hamilton. I’m a food and chick lit fanatic, so I knew this was right up my alley. Having never read a novella series before, I was unsure if I’d be a fan. Would it be too short? Would I not be satisfied with where the story stopped? More importantly...Would I feel compelled to keep reading?Yes…..yes….YES!As a mom with a very busy toddler, I found this not only to be a quick read, but it left me fulfilled. The story was written succinctly, and while I was definitely left wanting more, I was very at peace with where the novella finished. A fun addition to this series was the inclusion of recipes that were mentioned in the story. Mia’s description of Lizzie’s Lavender Drift cupcakes was so divine that I wished I had one to try….thanks to Hamilton gifting readers the recipe; now I can! I was provided with a free ARC from NetGalley, but look forward to purchasing the remaining eight novellas and finding out where Mia’s story takes her.www.bookwormblondie.com
