Review 5 stars! Courtney Clark has perfectly characterized the foundation of a perfect relationship in A Story of Like: A Decidedly Unromantic Romance Novel. The continuous humor of Addy's witticisms and Charlie's complementary rebuttals keep the story line moving. When Addy's Kitler (her cat with an eerie resemblance to Adolf Hitler) chooses Charlie's company over hers, there is no turning back. It doesn't hurt that Lola (Addy's Superdog with a passion for wearing an old Halloween costume cape) adores Charlie as well. This is a fun, fun story! Maybe "like" is more important than "love." I loved this story. It is a good reminder of what is really important in a relationship.Lisa McCombs for Readers' Favorite

By Kerrie I am a really unromantic person, who isn’t all that into romantic books, so this book was right up my alley. I was approached by the author Courtney Clark, who asked me to read and review her first book A Story of Like. I was more than excited to do so, as I read the description, and it was exactly the type of book I needed to get me back into reading cheerful books (I had been on a thriller/drama binge before this book came along). I absolutely love to support up and coming authors, so when I was approached, I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to get started on this book.I liked this book a lot, because it was a really interesting take on the romantic comedy. Usually the girl is reeling for a guy, and cannot wait to get her hands on one. Addie is not like this, oh no, she’s more meh about relationships than your average single 28 year old woman. Which is part of her appeal. She knows that a man doesn’t define her, she just wants to spend time with a nice person. One thing that I could say for a piece of criticism about this book is the amount of times that Addie says she doesn’t want a boyfriend, or that her and Charlie are just friends, or that she doesn’t know if she loves Charlie- it’s a little too much. Which makes it lose it’s meaning after a while. It’s like when someone keeps telling you that they’re not a mean person- you start to believe that they actually are. Now, I don’t know if this was the intention of the author, but if it was she did a mighty fine job. Over all though, this book had me literally laughing out loud, as well as getting all mushy at the adorable things Charlie would do for Addie. I was rooting for this pair the entire time, and now I’m waiting for a second book to see where their relationship ends up (No pressure, Courtney).

I found this to be the most relate-able romantic comedy I've ever read. From the moment Charlie entered the scene you were routing for him!

This is a fantastic debut humorous chick lit novel that had me giggling and falling in like (ok, I admit it, falling in love) with the characters. It's written in the first person with the occasional aside directed at the reader. I particularly enjoyed the way Courtney kept the bedroom scenes clean, no fade to black - she just slammed the door in your face. I loved the cast of quirky characters, including the pets. There was great character development and I was able to connect with the Addison and Charlie. I loved the ending so much that I immediately reread the last bit.I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait to read more from Courtney.
